Howlin’ Steam Train are an Australian rock group formed in Melbourne in 2009. While rooted in the blues, 60’s rock, soul & boogie, their ever evolving sound fuses elements of a multitude of genres. Electric party starters, soulful storytelling, tribal funk jams and rollicking hoedowns can all be expected in a Howlin’ Steam Train set. After forming in 2009 and releasing their first EP (self titled - 2010), they partnered with Fleming Artists in 2011. During a consistent schedule of local and interstate gigs, they released a their second EP (Howlin Steam Train! - 2012), produced by Steven Schram. They performed to big crowds on festival stages, such as Falls Festival, Queenscliff, Deniliquin Blues and Roots and many more. In 2013 their third EP, Green Jelly received national radio play on Triple J and ranked 3rd in the PBS EP of the year. See them play at The Gasometer with special guests Arthur Penn and The Funky Ten plus Kira Puru solo on Saturday July 12th. Tickets $10 on the door.
