Whitaker and Oliver’s Army are like not-so-strange bedfellows. There is a kind of romance between them that has blossomed over the years, and will now culminate in a gig to be remembered. The mutual admiration of the bands has seen many collaborations, the latest of which will be a joy for everyone to see, but mostly for the bands involved as they take to the stage at the fresh-faced Gasometer Hotel in Collingwood. Whitaker are coming off the back of their recent ‘Wichita’ EP launch tour, while Oliver’s Army are launching their album ‘Nothing Ever Really Stays The Same’.
Olivers Army have had their fair share of success, building a strong following in their hometown of Adelaide and securing supports with Big Scary, Deep Sea Arcade and Eagle And The Worm. The band recorded ‘Nothing Ever Really Stays The Same’ at Tender Trap Studios in Northcote with Roger Bergodaz, known for his work with Gossling, Matt Walker and Tex Perkins. Adam Dempsey mastered the record, previously working with Courtney Barnett, Seth Sentry and Jen Cloher. Come check out the amazing band room at the Gasometer, while watching the bands say really nice things about each other.
