Ross McLennan and his 11 piece ensemble The New World play an afternoon show at The Gasometer with special guests to be announced. Since disbanding Snout, his iconic indie-pop band from the 1990s, Ross McLennan has released three brilliant solo albums including The Amp shortlisted Sympathy For The New World. One of Australia’s most astute and individual songwriting auteurs, Ross recently released the sharp new single, “General Singh“. A fictional character embodying the anxieties of our time, “General Singh” is someone isolated from their fellow humans as a result of trauma; “I wander lost in public space”, Ross sings. As Ross cryptically explains, “Crimes they have witnessed and in truth have themselves committed have led them to believe that happiness is not appropriate. The shit is really hitting the fan.”
