Recently returned from a 3 month European tour playing back to back solo shows in France’s famed Cinema Utopia, a couple of dive bars, a 3 star Michelin restaurant, a Record Fair, a bookstore and finishing up with a sold out show in Paris, Australian singer-songwriter, Dan Brodie presents the Melbourne launch of “BIG HEARTED LOVIN MAN - A Retrospective 1999-2014” - a snapshot of his solo acoustic show, unadorned with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone.
In 2001, Brodie signed to EMI Australia and Last Call Records in France and since then has shared stages with a diverse range of artists including The Strokes, Steve Earle, Paul Kelly, You am I, The White Stripes, Gillian Welsh, Kid Kongo and the Pink Monkey Birds and Ty Segal.
Brodie’s musical talents have taken him to the U.S., Scandinavia, U.K., France, Germany and Spain, playing such iconic venues as CBGB in New York, The Continental in Austin, The Exit/In in Nashville and The Olympia in Paris.
Recorded in one night in January, 2015 at Salt Studios in Melbourne, the new album (recently awarded 4 out of 5 stars in The Age EG) draws from Brodie’s early solo work, the Broken Arrows through to his current incarnation in the Grieving Widows. Featuring erstwhile sibling Chris Brodie on a handful of tracks, this rare solo outing promises to be a very special night indeed!
