For the first time in this band’s short life, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, the international festival circuit is beckoning.
The Colours of Ostrava Festival (Czech Republic) was the first in a wave of early 2015 international offers for Cash Savage and her country-blues outfit. The band will play alongside Bjork and Swans before heading to Poland, Germany and France for a slew of club gigs and festivals.
To raise funds for the band’s flights and accommodation, Cash decided to kick it old-school – forget crowd-funding, it’s a great excuse for a party.
A celebratory gig has been announced at the Gasometer Hotel, with good friends Eaten by Dogs and Palm Springs. The band is encouraging pre-sale tickets to help their Europe fund tick over.
Cash Savage has been a stalwart of the Melbourne music scene since 2010. Cash rose to notoriety in 2010 following the release of her debut album, Wolf. She has since taken to the stage at Meredith Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Deniliquin Blues and Roots, Wave Rock WA and Dark Mofo in Hobart, plus a string of Spiegeltent shows and a gig at just about every country pub worth its salt.
The band’s second album, The Hypnotiser, launched in July to critical acclaim (5 stars in Herald Sun, four stars in the Age). With plans to record in late 2015, the band is looking forward to trialling their new stuff on a brand new European audience.
