Fresh from a successful tour of the UK & Europe, which included shows from Scandanavia to Spain, Aldous Harding hits the easy coast for her first ever Australian headline tour. Aldous has received praise and attention from some of the most illustrious corners of the music industry, with her debut self titled album receiving 4 stars in Mojo and Uncut (amongst others).
While the album was released nearly a year ago in New Zealand, it continues to breath new life, after releases in Australia and Europe. Following the Australian release, Aldous was invited to play the Sydney & Perth festivals and Golden Plains. She also toured with Tiny Ruins, Perfume Genius and Laura Jean. Southern Records then found out about it’s exploits and released the album locally in Europe.
BBC6 then picked up the single ‘Stop Your Tears’ and heavy hitters Marc Riley, Mary Anne Hobbs, and Gideon Coe spoke of it’s charms. The album then received tasty reviews across Europe and Aldous was invited to to come and play the Great Escape Festival and radio sessions on BBC radio. A 30 date tour of mainland Europe was then booked and apart from a couple of close calls at bikie bars in Italy, all went off without a hitch.
Before settling down to write and record her new record, Aldous is heading home to New Zealand for a run of shows, before finishing off the tour in Australia. A big sound performance is also lurking but more about that later. Stand by for a new video for ‘Stop Your Tears’ as well.
