The Northern Folk & This Way North are excited to team up for a show at The Gasometer, doubling as an EP Launch for This Way North. The Northern Folk are an 11-piece indie-folk outfit riding a wave of momentum from the release of their self-titled debut LP in October 2015. Hailing from Albury, this collection of like-minded pals have been hitting the Australian highways to spread their sound, and will be stopping in for their first shot at The Gasometer with their good friends This Way North . Perfect for boppers and tail-waggers alike, The Northern Folk mix warm harmonies with big horn sections, and top it off with groovy bass lines, and will be sure to have you foot-stomping and humming away.
This Way North are Leisha Jungalwalla (Jungal) and Cat Leahy (Sal Kimber & the Rollin' Wheel, Miss Quincy (CAN), Lisa Miller). The Melbourne guitar/drums duo are gearing up to release their debut EP, off the back of two solid single releases: the addictively effervescent debut single ‘Pretty Much’, followed by the edgy, fast and hard hitting track 'Don't You Fly', released in December 2015. Cat brings solid groove-based, left-of-centre drumming, while Leisha sways with swampy slide guitar, slimmed down soul vocals and punchy alt-pop melodies.
