“The Newcastle community keeps delivering new bands to fall for - case in point here.” - Dave Ruby Howe (Triple J): Vacations are the local sweethearts of Newcastle, their unique sound of jazz rock has won over a devoted fanbase in their hometown. A part of the No-Fi music and arts scene in Newcastle, Vacations are no strangers to wild house parties and packed out rooms where they've earned their stripes performing live. This has lead them to support bands like Hockey Dad, Skegss, and Dappled Cities, and see them play shows outside of their Steel City in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in their short time over a year since playing.
They’ll be embarking on their first headline tour over January, 2017, to promote the follow up to their debut EP, Days, with Vibes, their 2nd EP. Only a two month gap since they released Friends, a collaborative four track release with artists from Australia and America, there’s no signs of slowing down for Vacations.
They’ve received radio play on stations like FBi Radio and Triple J Unearthed as well as press from NYC blog, Cereal and Sounds. Their debut EP, Days, as been streamed on Spotify 100,000 times since it was released on Spotify on April 20th, 2016, 80,000 of those plays are from the USA alone. Days actually came out September 3rd in 2015 through No-Fi Records as a CD/digital release, which makes their reception in the USA more striking. The connections made from Friends has only solidified Vacations ties with America.
A band to keep on your radar, Vacations are known for their intimate and proficient, yet funny and loveable, live performances. Changing from dad rock riffs to sweet sing-a-longs that make the crowd sway, and everything in-between, at a moments notice.
