Harry Jakamarra Upstairs Residency with Brooke Russell

Tickets $5 on the door. Doors 7.00 PM

Harry Jakamarra is a croc skinner turned gypsy musician from the remote Kimberley region of W.A. He tours in a veggie oil powered fire truck converted to a tiny house.

Harry’s music has been described as ‘Gothic-Australiana’. A rich, raw sound that has it’s roots in Appalachian, Folk and West African desert blues. His powerful and carefully crafted lyrics encompass dark tales of twisted characters, as well as nostalgic ramblings inspired by life on the road. Harry is regarded as a stringed instrument guru and one of the most exciting up and coming songwriters in Australia.

He will be playing Tuesdays in May upstairs at the Gas in support of an EP release. This EP has been produced by living music legend Jeff Lang here in Melbourne. He will be joined by some of Melbourne’s finest songwriting talents.

"Harry Jakamarra has great storytelling, a commanding singing voice and he can pick a guitar or a banjo like the devil's on his tail." — Jeff Lang
