50 years ago, Australia said 'yes' to giving Indigenous Australians the vote, giving all citizens the right to shape its political future. 25 years later, in 1992, the 'Mabo Decision' declared that Australia was not an uninhabited wasteland before the British arrived, but was occupied by the Indigenous peoples for several centuries.
Due to these two milestones in Aboriginal rights, this year's reconciliation week is something to get excited about! In honour of the 25th and 50th anniversaries of these two major victories, AIME are having a celebration of Indigenous music, showcasing, talented Indigenous artists Benny Walker, Robbie Miller, Emily Wurramura and Mojo Ju Ju performing hits such as 'Come take it all' and 'black smoke.' Look forward to seeing you there !
