Following the high praise of her 2018 album “Feral Fusion” that saw her perform at Festival of Voices and the Melbourne Recital Centre, Freya Josephine Hollick, kicked off 2019 with a trip to Tamworth Music Festival.
She has just returned from U.S to record with Lucinda Williams’ band + fresh from performances at National Folk Festival and Bendigo Autumn Music Festival as well as a national tour with C.W Stoneking + a support slot with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
The old-timey country songbird brings blues and honky tonk goodness that transports you back to early Appalachia, through wartime romance, the golden era of country music and into a cosmic hootenanny. With a voice that floats between Maybelle Carter, Dolly Parton and Skip James, Hollick has toured with the likes of Justin Townes Earle, Willie Watson, Joshua Hedley and Joe Pug plus festival appearances at Nannup Music Festival, Boogie Festival , Broadbeach Country Music Festival & Gympie Music Muster, Queenscliff Music Festival, Kyneton Music Festival, Out on the Weekend & Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival.
She plays her first headline show at the Gasometer this winter playing songs from her upcoming new album which she recently recorded with Lucinda Williams’ long time band Buick 6.
